PRIVATE TUITION PROGRAMME
IGCSE Physics
A two-year, examiner-led pathway through Cambridge IGCSE Physics 0625 (for examination in 2026, 2027 and 2028)
Small groups. Personal feedback. Real impact.
Why this programme
This is a two-year, small-group tuition programme built specifically around the Cambridge IGCSE Physics (0625) syllabus for examination series 2026–2028. It is designed for candidates who want the structure, pacing and exam readiness of a well-run school department, combined with the individual attention only a small group can offer.
The course runs across two academic years, mirroring the natural rhythm of an IGCSE: Year 10 builds the foundations across all six topic areas; Year 11 completes the syllabus early and then shifts almost entirely into examination practice — past papers, mark-scheme-informed feedback, and targeted revision — so that by the exam window every candidate has sat, marked and reviewed a full bank of real questions.
About your tutor
Your tutor is an experienced Cambridge and IBDP Physics Examiner as well as a teacher of 26 years of experience, which shapes how this course is taught from day one. Rather than simply covering content, sessions are built around how marks are actually awarded — the command words examiners use, the level of detail a “6-mark explain” question needs versus a “2-mark state” question, and the small habits (units, significant figures, showing working) that separate a B from an A grade.
• Extensive experience marking IGCSE Physics Papers 1–6 to official mark schemes
• Deep familiarity with examiner reports and the most common reasons candidates lose marks
• A structured, syllabus-mapped teaching plan rather than a generic textbook run-through
• Ongoing, individual feedback for every candidate in the group — not just a shared group mark
Programme structure at a glance
Focus Outcome by year end
Year 10 (First year)
All Core content and the great majority of Extended (Supplement) content across the six topic areas, taught in a logical sequence with embedded practical skills.
Full first pass of the syllabus complete; strong foundations in AO1 (knowledge) and AO2 (handling information); an end-of-year checkpoint assessment.
Year 11 (Second year)
Fast, structured review of Year 10 plus the remaining new content (completed within the first term). The rest of the year is past-paper practice, exam technique and individual feedback.
Syllabus fully complete well before the exam window; a personal bank of marked past papers per candidate; strong AO3 practical/experimental skills; exam-day readiness.
How we teach: our methodology
1. Self-assessment driven strategies
Candidates are taught to mark and check their own work against the actual language of the syllabus and mark schemes before the tutor marks it. This builds the habit — essential in the real exam — of noticing when an answer is too vague, missing a unit, or has skipped a step, rather than relying on someone else to catch it.
2. Personal, written feedback
Every candidate receives individual feedback on homework, topic tests and past papers, not just a group-average discussion. Feedback identifies the specific skill or content gap, links it back to the syllabus statement it relates to, and sets a concrete next step.
3. Past-paper-oriented practice
From the start of Year 11, the course is built around genuine past-paper questions, organised first by topic and later into full timed papers, so that candidates become fluent in the actual style, phrasing and difficulty of the exam — not just the topic content in the abstract.

4. Exam tips and tricks from an examiners perspective
Because the tutor marks to these mark schemes professionally, sessions include the kind of guidance that is hard to get from a textbook: how marking points are actually allocated, which command words demand a calculation versus a
description, common wording traps, and how to structure multi-step numerical answers for full method-mark credit even if the final answer is wrong.
Whats included
• Two full content guides (Year 10 and Year 11), mapped topic-by-topic to the 0625 syllabus
• Weekly structured sessions covering theory, worked examples, and practical/experimental skills (Paper 6 style)
• Regular topic tests with written and verbal feedback
• A complete past-paper practice cycle in Year 11: by topic, then by full paper, under timed conditions
• Mark-scheme-based marking and feedback on every past paper attempt
• Exam technique clinics covering command words, calculation layout, graphical skills and common error patterns
• A personal progress record for each candidate, tracking strengths and areas for improvement
• Additional support sessions in the final run-up to the exam, arranged around the groups needs
Assessment routes we prepare candidates for
The course prepares candidates for either the Core route (Papers 1 + 3, grades C–G) or the Extended route (Papers 2 + 4, grades A*–G), plus one practical paper (Paper 6: Alternative to Practical). We track each candidate's progress from early in Year 10 to help identify, well ahead of entry deadlines, which route best suits them — and we teach the full Extended (Core + Supplement) content as standard, keeping the Core-only route available as a fallback rather than a ceiling.
Component Format Weighting
Paper 1 / 2 — Multiple Choice 45 minutes, 40 items 30%
Paper 3 / 4 — Theory 1 hour 15, short-answer & structured 50%
Paper 6 — Practical 1 hour, experimental skills 20%
Format and logistics
• Small-group setting for private candidates (indicative group size: 4–8 learners) so that individual feedback remains genuinely personal
• Two academic years, following the standard September–June school calendar with sessions scheduled weekly (day/time to be agreed with the group)
• Delivered in person or online, with shared session materials and a running record of homework and test results
• Suitable for candidates entering in either the June or November examination series, per the groups chosen exam board entry
• [Course fees, group size, exact schedule and enrolment dates to be confirmed with the tutor before the term begins]
